A few years ago we had a carnival celebration up for evaluation
It turned out to be a bit of a gimmick and we found it challenging to give it content of value for the children. Many parents experienced pressure to buy the "right" costume. This was also a very bad choice in terms of the environment. "Small steps for the planet" is a full-time job and idea!
We then chose to replace the carnival with a color party with a low threshold for outfits and props. A color party will provide valuable content for both children, parents and staff, we thought - and that's how it turned out. Today we had a color party for the third time, so now we can safely call it a tradition.
We are a nursery school with great diversity. We have representatives for different nationalities, genders, cultures and values among children, staff and parents.
We are unspeakably proud of this diversity!
We believe that by highlighting the differences between people, they will eventually become invisible.
We put our color party in connection with "rock sock day" - the world day for Down's syndrome - as an extra dimension to the celebration of diversity.
