At the Idrettsbarnehagen, we not only focus on the joy of eating and a versatile diet, but also focus on awareness of where the food comes from and how the raw materials are grown.
With the 2/3 year olds, we have decorated tin cans with felt to sow different seeds. We have googled and printed out pictures of the different vegetables, herbs and spices, glued them on sticks, found soil and empty cans and filled empty spray bottles with water. The children have been involved in the whole process and follow up each plant. They have learned that they need water and sunlight to grow and that they take different amounts of time to germinate and grow bigger. Now we are looking forward to summer and home-grown
