First, the children had to lie down on the floor

In our kindergarten, we have started to mark "Pride". Although it is a bit difficult to find a good and suitable starting point to talk to the children about this topic, it went better than expected.

First the children had to lie down on the floor and close their eyes and then we took the children on a mental "journey". We walked across a large meadow with lots of juicy and green grass. But! We saw nothing more, no sun, no sky, just grass and more grass. After a long "walk" we saw a flower. It was pretty, but it was just a flower. So we continued walking and came to a large flower meadow. Wow, that was nice!
Our mental "journey" continues with us seeing ourselves on the grass,  nothing else. After a while we came to several people, but they looked like me. Nice to meet someone, but only someone else who looked like me. After a while we came to several, but they were all different.
Then our "trip" was over and the children found out that it is best to have  people around them  who are different.
We  talked about diversity in the nursery school and in society as a whole. Everyone is valuable in their own way and it's okay to be yourself, it's okay to be happy with who you want to be happy with, it's okay to love who you want. Diversity is  an important resource we have.
Framework plan: "The kindergarten shall promote respect for human dignity by making visible, valuing and promoting diversity and mutual respect. The children shall experience that there are many ways of thinking, acting and living."
