We were lucky to end the week with pleasant and sunny weather. We took advantage of this and spent most of the day playing outside.

In between, to get away from the sun for a few minutes, we sat in a corner of the yard in the shade of a tree and read a book.
Today the children chose for themselves which book we should read in outdoor time and the book that most of the children agreed on was: "Mattias is alone".
The framework plan for the kindergarten's content and tasks states that all children in kindergarten must experience being read to on a daily basis. Furthermore, the Framework Plan points out that it is not enough to read for children. This means that we have to find good texts for children. The children must be able to provide themselves with the nursery's children's books. Reading to children creates cohesion and good experiences between children and adults. It also helps to increase the children's vocabulary and concentration, as well as to stimulate their imagination.
Reading aloud stimulates the child's language development.
When we read aloud to the child, the child encounters more words than he does in everyday speech and in the texts that the child reads himself. Therefore, reading aloud leads to the child gaining a larger vocabulary. Literature is an effective way to a rich language. In this book we hear that Mattias is a completely ordinary boy who is looking forward to meeting his friends at kindergarten after the summer holidays. But not everything goes as he had planned. He feels alone and outside and does not get to play with the others. Challenging feelings, words that get stuck, and play that stops, are central themes in this book about Mattias - a #book that encourages and supports adults to talk to children about important topics for children's well-being and development.
