Theme Karsten and Petra

Theme Karsten and Petra

This Bhg year we have worked with Karsten and Petra as a theme. Jaggu a grateful theme to work on! There are books for every situation. Except for Easter and the end of pre-school.

We started by making a tapestry where the children cut out and glued on felt after we had worked on a theme. We started with the first day in Bhg. And drew and cut out the Duestien kindergarten. Then we went around to see where we lived and tested out the playgrounds in the local area. Then we cut and glued on play equipment. Then we had a visit from a fire truck and crew (since K&P visited a fire station) in connection with fire drill week and cut and pasted a fire truck. No more touching the tapestry, but it doesn't matter much. Then we had a winter activity day, after watching the winter holiday film and reading the book. Then we went on a trip to the south and made palm trees out of the preschool children's full profiles, the children drew what you could see from a plane on cardboard plates (which became flight routes that we hung along the walls of one of the rooms, and thus we had a plane), they made passports, plane tickets, hula hula skirts and flower wreaths and we had an all-day trip to the south with accompanying umbrella drinks and barbecue (Karsten is going to the south). We went to visit FurusetgÄrden and the children got to ride everything that could crawl and walk and got to jump in the hay and more, after reading that K&P visited a farm. We had a Bollywood party because K&P made theatre, (and two of the staff are Indians with access to beautiful shawls, suits, glitter and pomp). Enough so that all the children and the ward looked like they had been taken from an Indian party. Of course with music, singing and dancing by the children and Indian food for lunch. Along the way, we have sung the songs from the last album both as a meal song, together and in the groups. We have also been to the library and watched all the films about them and read all the books. After Christmas I made patterns of the lion cub and Miss Rabbit. The children got to choose which one they wanted to make and have been cutting out felt and started sewing for the past six months. Yesterday the first ones were finished. The plan is to sing some of the songs we have learned to the parents at the summer party next week, while the children hold their stuffed animals.
