Just have to show off these beauties
Had a small group with me to make carnival decorations today. We looked together at the iPad to find inspiration. The children wanted to make carnival treasures.
We found all the materials we needed, and set to work. The children drew their own cats, cut them out (some with a little help) and decorated them as they wanted.
Why is it that every day we adults make ready-made templates of perfect cats (for example) which the children then decorate within the extremely narrow framework we set for them. Who are we doing it for. What are we defending it for? with, purely professionally.
Until we adults are able to let go of our thoughts about how things should be, we will not be able to facilitate and further develop children's creative processes and expressions, as the Framework Plan so nicely says.
