How to get some extra concept learning around numbers
Room and form of gathering/music session. I play guitar and always have picks with many different colors in my pocket.
At assembly, the children can either try to remember which colors I have, or I can hold up each pick and the children can say what the color is called. We can also associate the color with something else we know (green like grass, white like snow, etc.), and then we use an elle melle rule (even more term) and one of the children gets to choose today's color. Very popular with the children!
