In the toddler department at Lundelia kindergarten in Porsgrunn, we have "Sprell i jungelen" as the annual theme and we read the book "Apestreker" one or more times a week.
On this occasion, we have made a reading box for Villy (the monkey in the book), where we focus on one animal at a time, week by week. We change the background in the reading box weekly, depending on which (jungle) animal we are focusing on. Villy is looking for his mum, and the other day the children and I found out that we had to have a search! The only problem was how we were going to find her. The children ran back and forth in the ward, looking under every nook and cranny and calling out for "Villy's mum" Unfortunately we couldn't find her, but we came up with the idea that if we leave one for her, maybe she will come forward then. The next day we couldn't see her, but we discovered to our great astonishment that only the banana peel was left, which the children were very excited and thoughtful about?? I wonder if she will soon supply herself with more
