Lise - with educational art

Who: Lise Traran, 66 years old Lives in: Fredrikstad Occupation: Visual artist, writer and freelancer for TommeLise's World for Children

Could you introduce yourself to us?

I am a trained artist at (HiØ Art and Crafts) and  DTK-Kunstfagskoen in Bærum. Since I create blogs (Cookbook and Children's book  Amazon), I also call myself a writer. I am ex resident in Fredrikstad, but has lived in the USA, Hong Kong and Australia for many years.
I am 66 years old and I expect that I will not have to be called a pensioner as an artist and writer for the rest of my life.

I got the idea for the children's book about language development during a 1-month single art residency with watercolor artist Hazel Soan in Noordhoek, South Africa in 2011.

You have created an English language E-book: "Thumbelisa`s World for Children."
Why are you presenting this e-book?

I would like to celebrate our language.
Learning in the form of symbols expands the quality of life,
in relation to the feeling of intelligence and mastery.
I present here a project that shows how the world can be changed by using creativity and design.

What made you mix art with synonyms?

As an artist, I think art is fun and effective in a learning process with synonyms.
Synonyms/words can have different meanings and are practiced in relation to knowledge. To see is to remember visually. Words can also be drawn as art. Written language is also drawing.
"I feel - so I learn."

Why have you invested in creating modern art?

Reflections and selected art change everything into a secret and historical process.
The cruel watercolor figures are in the middle between the beautiful and the comic in the caricature.
Only modern art with its new and original concept includes the ugly.

How to use this e-book?

Throw out a word and show the corresponding illustration in the class/group, and listen to what the child answers?
The various synonyms can change the world in relation to metaphors/fables.
To see is to remember visually.
