Using riddles with children is a useful one
Using riddles with children is a useful and fun language activity. It is good training for children to describe things in as many words as they can.
And is a language activity that can help to increase the children's vocabulary. It is good training both to tell about a word, and to listen and guess the correct word. A child with few words in his vocabulary can e.g. describe the word dog by saying only "voff".
Another child with a larger vocabulary might be able to describe the word dog by saying: "it is a pet, it can have short or long ears, a long or short tail, it has soft fur, it can be small or big, the fur can be different colors, it wags, it can have ears that stand up or hang down, it has a food bowl and a collar, it likes to go for a walk, it barks.” etc.
