Awaken interest in numbers
Tips for the pre-school group: Aim: to arouse interest in numbers, letters, working with sizes, sorting, colours, creativity and social competence.
Equipment: buttons in different colors and sizes, a cube, a large white sheet, markers and music
.
Method: educational sports (using play & movement and elements from sports to achieve educational goals)
.
Implementation 1)
- divide the children into smaller groups (max. 6 children)
- find music (the children can choose a song for each turn)
- put a large white sheet and markers/pencils on a table or the floor
- possibly outdoors with chalk (fun outdoor activity in spring/summer)
- when the music plays, the children must move in different ways (jump, limp, walk backwards, sideways, crawl, spin, walk like different animals, etc.)
- when the music stops, the children must stop where they are standing, find a marker/pencil to draw/write different numbers/letters/pictures, their name, can also ask the children to say what the others should draw/write
.
Implementation 2)
- find buttons in different colors and sizes (can be ordered from Lek & leather)
- the children can work in pairs or individually
- a child throws the dice and says one or more colours, everyone must find the right number of buttons and make the same pattern as the child who threw the dice
- can also ask each child to create a fantasy pattern that the others must copy
- here it is only the imagination that sets limits in relation to the implementation of the activity
