Does anyone have experience with a sense crates

with, inter alia, rice / lentils or similar in Toddlers? We have kids who throw everything on the floor if they were sitting at the table, we have those who put everything in his mouth etc.
I've been wanting to try out, but would like to reap the experiences of others before we start ??
